Looking for Home Exchanges

We are a retired couple who have been living in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico for 12 years and have done over 20 home exchanges. This site is for potential home exchangers to see pictures of our home and San Miguel.

San Miguel is a World Heritage Site located approximately 175 miles NW of Mexico City at an altitude of about 6800 feet. The weather is pleasant all year around but with seasons. From November to May is is very dry with little to no rain. It is chilly at night during December and January with occasional frosts overnight. However, the sun is warm during the day - rising into the 70's. April and May are the warmest months with temperatures rising at times into the low 90's but cooling into the 50's or low 60's at night. The rains come and it is lovely with everything turning green and perfect temperatures and low humidity and resfreshing rain showers usually in the afternoon or over night. Fall is splendid with everything still green from the rains and nice temperatures and low humidity. If you wish to contact us about a home exchange, email us at: equussanmiguel@yahoo.com

About Exchanging with John & Jeannie

Please read these notes from us and then view our home pictures below.

We have done over 25 (I've lost track of exact number) home exchanges and have learned what works best for us and our exchange partners.

We understand that not everyone we wish to exchange with has a home equal to ours.  Your home may be larger or smaller than ours. We are mainly interested in having a comfortable, neat and clean place to stay with interesting things to see and do.  We also like to do a car exchange so that we can easily make side trips with your home as our base.  We have a 2011 Ford Ecosport - a small SUV - very comfortable with manual transmission, air conditioning, etc.

We have a housekeeper who works 30 hrs per week.  She comes with the house and is very quiet, honest and responsible.  Clara has worked for us since we built our home in 2000.  She keeps the house clean and does your laundry including ironing.  We understand that most of our exchange partners will not have a housekeeper.  That is not a problem for us - we would just expect that you might provide housecleaning before and after we leave or for a longer exchange, maybe once every two weeks. Clara could work fewer hours, if you wish, but we have to pay her anyway so it's best to let her work while you are here.  She quietly goes about her work.

We also have a gardener who takes care of our nearly one acre property. We have weekly service to maintain the pool.   By the way, the pool is solar heated and it is available for use all year with the exception of December through mid-February when it is too cool at night to maintain a warm temperature in the pool with the solar panels.

You will be able to use any supplies we have in our cupboards and just hope that you will replace what you use up before you leave.  We will do the same in your home.

Our master suite is on the 2nd floor - there is a king size bed there.  We would hope to have at least a queen size bed in your home but prefer a King.  Our guest suite is on the main floor and it has 2 twin size beds.  You are welcome to bring another couple with you and we would hope to have the same opportunity although most of the time we just come ourselves.

Regarding our dogs, Ella and Chloe, they will live on the grounds while you are in our home but they will not come in the house, they do not need walking and our gardener keeps their feeder filled.  They will be there for your enjoyment only.  They love to have home exchangers - both of them are very friendly and smart.  Every exchange partner we have had has loved Ella and Chloe (and our previous dogs, Lucky, Chester and Dolly).

Please let us know if you have any other questions about us or our home.
